The Andasibe National Park in the eastern part of Madagascar is a must for all tourists who want to Capital Antananarivo definitely worth a trip. The original primary forest offers many exotic and exceptional animal and plant species a home. The Mitsinjo Reserve is especially interesting for herpetological trips, for frogs and for scientific travels. The Indri-Indri lemurs are of course the most famous attraction in Andasibe National Park.
Many of these species are already threatened with extinction and hardly find anywhere else on the island the food supply they need to survive. Our three day tour through the Andasibe National Park is aimed at all nature lovers who do not want to do without a certain comfort. The exact points of the tour will be determined according to the condition of the travelers directly with the experienced guides arranged. If you would like more information about this three-day adventure, just contact us.
The various services and stations of this short Journey through Madagascar are presented below. This tour is an ideal complement to the highland route from Antananarivo to Tulear, for the east with Sainte Marie, for Masoala or the north of Madagascar.
Few visitors will not be able to resist hearing for the first time the calls of an Indri-Indri family echoing for miles.
Day 1 - Antananarivo via Perinet to AndasibeThe road from Antananarivo to Andasibe was once notorious for heavy traffic, mainly trucks loaded with containers chugging slowly from the port in Tamatave toward the capital. For truck drivers, tight, mountainous hairpin turns, especially in the breathtaking valleys of the forest corridor between Manjakandriana and Ambodiamontana, are a challenge. On the way, you will have the opportunity to visit the famous private reserve "MadagascarExotique" of the famous explorer Andre Pereyras, where an unimagined variety of reptiles, amphibians and - in a nearby forest patch - lemurs pose unabashedly for the camera.Moramanga is the next stopover before heading to the nearby Analamazoatra area.Overnight at the "Eulophiella Lodge" from where an exciting night hike into the rainforest can also be organized. |
Day 2- Andasibe / MitsinjoAndasibe-Mantadia National Park is the official title given to the forest area operated under theNational Parks Program. It consists of two separate forest sections of drastically different sizes, with the smaller of the two receiving the most visitors. This smaller area, the Analamazaotra Reserve, is numerically the main attraction in Andasibe-Mantadia. Because of its smaller size, it is an advantage for viewing indri and diadem sifakas and its secondary forest throughout, which provides a balance between those who do not want a garden path to guide them and those who do not want to walk through dense jungle or significant slopes. Although small, it is difficult to see where it ends once inside, so it is easy to feel completely immersed in the rainforest. |
Day 3 - Mantadia or MitsinjoMantadia is located north of the village of Andasibe and requires a means of transportation to reach its entrance.Mantadia has a large amount of primary forest and is much more difficult to hike than the Analamazaotra Reserve. This itself probably explains why it is much more attractive to some and much less to others. Many wildlife species can be more difficult to spot here, but on the other hand, for those who shy away from human visits, it can provide glimpses of certain wildlife more easily than other areas. Mantadia offers them a more secluded home. For those who do not want strenuous hikes is suggested a variant in the easily accessible part of Andasibe / Mitsinjo. |
Day 4- It continues...either to Antananarivo or to Ankan'y Nofy.On this day it depends on which tour Andasibe is connected to: it can go to Ankanin'Nofy if it was a tour connected to the east, it can go south to Antsirabe if a RN7 variant is the main tour or back to Antananarivo if the north of Madagascar is planned afterwards.End of the tour in the afternoon of this fourth day. |
