Dear Klaus, 3 great weeks are behind us. We have now arrived in Ifaty and have a little time to relax and review the trip. I would like to give you some feedback on our time with Eric. Somehow fate had it that you chose Eric and his Landcruiser for us (probably due to our request at very short notice). The chemistry between us was right from day one and we can only count ourselves lucky that we had such a good time with him. Due to the notoriously very, very bad road conditions, the most important thing first: Eric is an extremely careful, experienced driver, always highly concentrated and anticipatory, so that we felt very safe with him. But that's not all. We were fascinated by his knowledge of the country and its people, the many different tribes, the animals, Malagasy traditions and not least the typical food, as well as his wide-ranging general knowledge. It goes without saying that he was also a very good guide with an excellent network. At all destinations, especially the national parks, where we always had to be accompanied by a locally registered guide, he used his contacts to put us in touch with very good people. Although it wasn't necessary, he accompanied us on all the excursions himself. He always had a caring eye on us and made life easier, especially for me with my food intolerances, by informing the respective kitchen teams. By the way, his English is brilliant, much better than ours. To sum up, thanks to Eric and his empathetic nature, we gained a much deeper insight into life in Madagascar than if we had undertaken this adventure on our own. Last but not least, I would like to mention that Eric was always more than punctual, is a very well-groomed man, knows how to behave very well and was never indiscreet. We had a lot of fun with him and it was a real pleasure and enrichment for us to travel through Madagascar with him. We would therefore like to thank you, dear Klaus, very much for making this intensive trip possible for us by acting unbureaucratically and quickly. We travel a lot, often to countries where vehicles with a driver/guide are also useful, but we have never had such a friendly and committed guide as Eric. He simply did everything to ensure that we had an unforgettable trip through his country. We'll definitely be back, we know who we want to drive and the vehicle ;-)) Best regards and a thousand thanks from Jürgen and Kerstin... Collapse

Our original plan to travel as a family of five in Madagascar was to get off the plane and then take the ubiquitous taxi-brousses to the most beautiful spots. We found Klaus' website by chance and told him about our plans. His reaction: "We need to talk to each other on the phone - because what you're planning won't work!" And he was right! Thanks to Klaus' interest in us and our plans, we were able to experience and enjoy a wonderful time in Madagascar together with his driver Dam. Klaus put together a route for us that suited us perfectly - and we very quickly appreciated the "luxury" of having our own driver. Together with Dam, we were able to immerse ourselves in life in Madagascar and now have very special experiences in our hearts that we will treasure for a long time to come. So once again, many thanks to Klaus and his family for planning and hosting us in Antananarivo. And many thanks to Dam for his calm and safe way of guiding us through Madagascar.... Collapse

We chose Klaus as our tour operator right from the start because we immediately felt that he was very committed and passionate about our concerns. He took a lot of time to understand our wishes and ideas exactly and to tailor his travel planning to them. Even in the preliminary discussions, he showed a deep understanding of our needs and was able to come up with creative ideas to make our experience the best it could be. Initially, we had considered doing the trip ourselves with a rented vehicle. But when we saw the actual condition of the roads on site, we were very happy to have Aina at our side as an experienced driver. Aina not only proved to be an excellent driver, but also a highly competent and extremely interesting tour guide. With his in-depth knowledge of the region, his stories about the country and its people and his recommendations for special places and experiences, he enriched our trip enormously. Without his expert guidance, we would only have experienced the external backdrops of the itinerary; instead, thanks to him, we were able to delve deep into the soul of the country and gain an authentic picture of the culture and traditions. His expertise and passion were crucial in making our trip an unforgettable experience.... Collapse

Dear Klaus and Fara! First of all, a heartfelt "Thank you's God" for your unique hospitality and the open discussions we were able to have with you. You, dear Klaus, planned us an unforgettable, wonderful vacation in Madagascar that we will talk about for the rest of our lives! Madagascar is simply a dream! The landscapes are so varied and the people so warm and friendly! During our trip, despite the unexpected cancellation of the flight from Tulear back to Tana, you immediately had an alternative route ready so that we were able to complete the subsequent route to the east as planned. The hotels you suggested were fantastic. We would often have liked to stay longer.... We were more than blessed to have Mamy as our driver and guide. He gave us an incredible knowledge of the island, the flora/fauna and the different tribes and their rituals. He is an extremely personable and trustworthy person. We had so much fun with him... As a driver, we always felt absolutely safe and in good hands with him, even on roads that are simply unimaginable for us Europeans. A 200km stage on the sometimes catastrophic roads can sometimes take a day... But you see all the more 😉 We would like to say to all future travelers, please use every kilo of free luggage and simply bring EVERYTHING you no longer need. People can really make use of everything, which was unimaginable for us before the trip. Klaus is always happy to help if you have any questions.... So if you are planning a trip to the dream island of Madagascar, then Klaus is by far the best, most experienced and most authentic contact of all!!! We can recommend him 1000%!!! He will also plan an unforgettable adventure for you on the paradise island of Madagascar....... Collapse

Klaus is a Madagascar specialist and this is very evident in the travel preparations, the planning that fits perfectly with the season and the wishes of his guests. He specializes in individual trips and his staff are absolutely capable of implementing the plans on site with German thoroughness. The vehicles were always in very good condition and withstood the extremely poor infrastructure without any breakdowns. We were warned against visiting the Tsingy for safety reasons, no other provider had even mentioned this. A clear recommendation for experiencing Madagascar individually!... Collapse

Hi Klaus, thanks again and again for this great trip! No idea why no travel guide considers January a good time to visit Madagascar. The fear of the rainy season is completely unfounded. We had really insanely beautiful 16 days with Aina, our driver, whom you could ask about any topic and who read all our wishes from our eyes. The perfect organization of Klaus was really super - despite our somewhat curious route requests. We come back in any case and absolutely again when it is winter with us and summer there.... Collapse

Hello Klaus, Hello Fara, dear guests! Africa should not be lumped together, but the sub-Saharan region certainly has one thing in common: it can also be narrow, especially if you go away from the beaten track, which I had in mind. By bike the RN5 to Maroantsetra and further without road to Antalaha and back to Tana. There is not much on the Internet, especially not for cyclists. Many think it is not possible. At home all mean, one is crazy. Klaus means, well, it does, so in principle. You just have to consider a few things. How do you divide the route. Where are there overnight accommodations and how are they. How is the road, road would be really exaggerated and Rue National is a joke. Sand, stones slush, ... When is it feasible. When does the rain come. How are the rivers to cross. How does it look with water and food, where can you set up a time and what must be considered, etc.. Surely Klaus does not know everything, but he knows a lot and if he does not know it, he knows the one who knows it and he in turn knows a lot and also steps into action, which then of course also costs something, but through which this little adventure becomes and became manageable for me as a normal person and an unforgettable experience in my life. Klaus has made this possible with his family and his people, while still serving a glass of wonderful red wine. Do I need more words, or longer sentences? I think not. So to you Klaus a big thank you and to you guests unforgettable moments in Madagascar.... Collapse

Starting with the warm welcome by him and his family, he made all our wishes come true! He truly made the impossible possible for us! Dear Klaus, well, what else to write that has not already been mentioned here a dozen times. Perfect communication from the first contact, after all 8 months before the start of the trip, until the last day of the trip. We had chosen the route from Tana to Tulear (Sarodrano) with a detour by FCE to Manakara and a boat trip on the 'Canal des Pangalanes'. Everything went smoothly, we felt well and safe everywhere. A big thank you also to our driver and guide Aina, who brought us the 3 weeks safely through the country. Aina had an answer to every question, often before it was even asked. Through him there were many spontaneous encounters with the people along the route. Thank you all for this unforgettable trip, we will be back, promised.... Collapse

You often have to do something great just to be able to live for a while again (J. W. v. Goethe). We definitely had a great time in Madagascar! This actually poor country offers so much richness: first of all the very friendly people (Klaus with his family, our driver Mamy and Dorsa), the variety of landscapes (especially Isalo, Indian Ocean and Canal des Pangalanes) and the unique wildlife. The trip was well organized, the tour led through quite varied areas and the accommodations were consistently great (besides Villa Sibylle, we liked La Bella Donna in Ifaty and Isalo Rock Lodge). Not to forget the Palmarium Lodge, because there you could experience the lemurs very close. Thank you very much again for everything!... Collapse

Dear Klaus, what can I say?! I can still see Fara's face in front of me when she and the children picked me up at the airport - so much cordiality, so much hospitality, and all that for a stranger. Perhaps this is the Malagasy way of life that is so natural to you and still so incomprehensible to me. I came with no plans and had an unforgettable time in Madagascar thanks to you and the people around you: riding a Harley with JJ to the west coast (the most indescribable of all experiences - so recommended!!!), paragliding over the volcanic craters of Ampefy, vis-a-vis with sea turtles while diving on Nosy Be and a rendezvous with the panther chameleons on Nosy Faly.... - Whatever I was in the mood for, you made it happen. So spontaneous, so uncomplicated, so warm. MERCI MERCI MERCI. In short: Klaus knows Madagascar like no other, is the best organizer for whatever and has his heart in the right place - an absolute recommendation!... Collapse

Hello, we have cycled in mid-June 2019 with bikes borrowed from Klaus along(not always on) the RN7 from Antananarivo to Tulear and then back by plane to Antananarivo. The trip was beautiful, the bikes good and everything worked out. June is a good time to bike in Madagascar because it is not that warm. However, sometimes it gets quite chilly in the evening, you should take warm clothes. We were able to relax at the end of one day in the beautiful Villa Sibylle of Klaus. We cycled on our own. If you want to be on the safe side, e.g. with regard to overnight stays or breakdown assistance, you should take advantage of Klaus' offer to make the tour with a support vehicle organized by him.... FOR MADAGASCAR

After 10 months of total inactivity, self-employed people in the tourism industry in Madagascar are completely without income. There is no opening of the borders in sight in Madagascar and we are at the beginning of the rainy season, which is the low season, even in normal times. I have started a fundraiser for the guides and drivers I know well. From this money we will buy rice and other essentials and distribute them regularly, if possible, until the resumption of travel activities in April 2021 at the earliest. My special thanks to those who have already donated. I will start buying rice tomorrow and will begin distributing it this week.
