From Ambalavao the journey continues to Isalo

Isalo National Park is waiting

The journey along the RN 7 through Madagascar holds for you numerous different landscapes and fascinating encounters with nature, wildlife and people of Madagascar ready. Once you have sufficiently explored the area around Ambalavao, the road takes you further south and brings you significant changes in the landscape with you. The next destinations on your trip through Madagascar are Ihosy, Ranohira and the Isalo National Park.

The route from Antananarivo to the southernmost tip of the island of Madagascar is the most famous in the entire country and most tourists will discover you along the RN 7. Nevertheless, this does not mean that you have to move in a tourist crowd. On the contrary, we present you on request numerous hidden attractionsthat are far away from the usual hotspots. How to get the fascinating mystery of Madagascar even closer and get an insight into this country, as only a few tourists otherwise get. If you are interested in this special atmosphere and unique experiences, feel free to contact us and let us offer you a Madagascar tour assemble according to your wishes.

The travel section begins in Ambalavao

From Ambalavao, you continue south along the EN 7. You will quickly notice that the granite rocks on both sides are getting closer and closer to the roads. At the same time, the number of plants becomes smaller and smaller - dry grass, a few robust mango trees and a few small cassava fields form the only splashes of color in the surrounding area. Not only the landscape, but also the population is changing now. Until a few kilometers ago, typical highland houses were ubiquitous, but now classic mud huts are the favored type of dwelling. They reach the land of the bara and Ihosy is their capital in the middle of this landscape surrounded by magnificent rocks.

The Savannah area around Ihosy is not very busy and there are not many policemen here either. Some bush thieves take advantage of this. For many decades, zebus have been driven north by their herders through this inhospitable region. Among young men of the Bara it was considered an important ritual for many generations to steal a cattle. This was the only way the men of the Bara could obtain a bride. Meanwhile, this ritual belongs to the past, but the only difficult to control wide plane still calls numerous cattle thieves to the scene. Ihosy itself is a rather small and sleepy nest and offers little variety for extended forays or longer stays.

Ranohira and the Isalo National Park

Since the stay in Ihosy will probably be rather short, you will have all the more time on your trip through Madagascar for the famous Isalo National Park. The best way to reach it is via the small village of Ranohira, which lies somewhat deserted in the middle of the grassy savannah. Only a few kilometers away, you can already the rugged table mountains of Isalo National Park admire. In Ranohira itself you will probably only want to stop for a bite to eat, because the place has more the charm of a transit town and has only a few attractions to reveal. Nevertheless, you will meet the people here very friendly and open minded, because of the Proximity to Isalo National Park you are quite used to tourists. The landscape of the Isalo National Park will probably seem dry and bare to you at first. Bare rocks, bizarre mountain formations and all around the dry savannah, that's how the Isalo National Park presents itself from further away. But if you dare to take a step closer, you will realize very quickly, that this wonderful area keeps incredibly fascinating secretswhich can only be discovered on foot on an extended tour. Especially friends of Trekking tours came therefore in the Isalo national park fully at your expense, now we recommend rather the Andringitra Mountains. We also like to organize Tours of up to six days for you, but for security reasons no longer in the Isalo Mountains.

Isalo National Park includes the mountains and everything in them. If you think that on a tour through the park there are only rocks and boulders to look at, you are wrong. Behind the first rocks hide numerousoases, lagoons, small waterfalls, lush green landscapes, magnificent flowering plants and numerous animals.which are always happy about human visitors. Especially at one of the two official campsites the lemurs like to come together. But even apart from that, breathtaking sights will reveal themselves to you here: The starry sky at night directly above the mountains inspires dreams and never wants to be forgotten. If you want a Tour through Isalo National Park plan, then it is best to know your constitution exactly. Although hiking in the park is not necessarily demanding from a technical point of view, the weather conditions in particular can cause problems for untrained people. You are welcome to ask the exact Details of a tour already before your trip to Madagascar discuss with us. We will then take care of the organization and logistics directly if you wish. Help

FOR MADAGASCAR

After 10 months of total inactivity, self-employed people in the tourism industry in Madagascar are completely without income. There is no opening of the borders in sight in Madagascar and we are at the beginning of the rainy season, which is the low season, even in normal times. I have started a fundraiser for the guides and drivers I know well. From this money we will buy rice and other essentials and distribute them regularly, if possible, until the resumption of travel activities in April 2021 at the earliest. My special thanks to those who have already donated. I will start buying rice tomorrow and will begin distributing it this week.
